Remote or Off Site Hunting

The hunter and the game don’t have to be in the same location. In fact, the hunter and the game don’ have to be on the same continent. With the invention of the high tech equipment generally used for spying, you can now use it to set up a remote hunting sight.

When the hunter is not physically present at the hunting location, it is called remote or offsite hunting. Generally, it is done with cameras, computers and a gun. It should be noted, remote hunting is not legal for everyone and is a highly regulated sport.

Hunting Off Site Causes Laws to Change

Now that off site hunting has been established in the United States and other countries, regulations on hunting are being changed. There are generally two reasons for allowing offsite hunting.

  • One reason is to accommodate handicapped persons who, due to their limitations, would never be able to hunt. The disability would have to be such that traditional hunting would not be possible ever again.
  • The other reason, in the United States, is to accommodate the soldiers that are stationed overseas and cannot go hunting. Instead of penalizing the group of soldiers who enjoy hunting, soldiers fighting overseas may have the right to hunt offsite.

While permission requests are debatable and, of course, controversial, off site hunting is taking place. The bottom line, off site hunting is happening whether we like it or not. Since hunting has changed, we as a nation will have to decide how we will handle the new possibilities this brings us.
